Fitness Pilates is a physical program that also focuses on the mind/body connection. It is a functional approach to the traditional Pilates. This functional movement program supports everyday life and will improve overall body strength particularly the back and core muscles.
A Fitness Pilates class is made up of a warm up, standing exercises and floor/mat work.
It will improve posture, mobility, joint problems, tone your body. The class should be fun and not too serious with a stretch and relaxation element..
The way it works so well for the body is that it will target key postural muscles and build strength from within especially around the torso.
The torso is your powerhouse where your core - the lower back and abdomen are supported and strengthened so that your limbs can move with controlled freedom.
Core stability is at the centre of the Pilates and the mind/body technique and is where the breath combines with the movement. The in breath is a lateral expansion into the ribcage and the out breath draws the belly gently back towards the spine.
